Civil War issue to the Veteran Volunteers in 1865. This rifle has been very well cared for and is in excellent-plus condition. Bore is about mint. Markings are sharp; smooth metal is plum brown, with generous amount of blue in the protected areas. Stock is excellent-plus, with small inspector's stamp on wrist. Iron cleaning rod in butt. Brass is excellent and unpolished. This rifle has had only two owners since 1935 and has never before been publicly offered for sale. Untouched, uncleaned, un-,essed-with. Lacking two small screws, as shown in photos. Serial #92XX, which is in the number range issued to the 3rd Veteran Volunteers. SOLD
