Only 1,000 of these were purchased by the US Government, tested in battle, and rejected for military use. Rifle is in excellent-plus condition. Bore is mint; barrel retains 90% or more original arsenal bright. Markings are crisp; wood is excellent-plus, except for the usual repaired crack on left side of wrist. Stock retains two great inspector's cartouches. A fine example of a very scarce Civil War "two shot" musket. SOLD
