Antique Gun 1472. Blake Bolt Action Magazine Rifle.

Submitted to the tests of 1892 by J. H. Blake, 136 Liberty St. New York City. Also submitted to the US Navy tests of 1895 and the 1896 State of New York tests. Although the results were good, this rifle was not adopted. Only 300 made, the first 15 mounted in brass. This rifle, #123, is in excellent-plus overall conditon. Bore is mint; smooth metal retains 95% or more original blue. Wood is excellent, except for some loss on left side of tang. Rotary 7-shot magazine is intact; magazine cutoff lever broken. Rifle is otherwise intact. Brass excellent and unpolished. There is quite a long writeup of this rifle in The Rifle in America by Phil Sharpe, pages 106-112. A little known and very well made test rifle, very reasonably priced at $4250 ON HOLD
