In unfired, excellent-plus condition. Only 100 of these rifles were altered by James H. Merrill, circa 1861-1862. Bore is mint; metal is generally smooth and retains approximately 95% or more strong original finish. Slight roughness in areas of brown loss. Wood is near mint, with crisp inspectors initials.
