Antique Gun 2666. US Model 1866 Springfield, aka 2nd Allen.

In about mint condition; apparently unfired. Bore is mint; smooth, well marked metal retains 95% of its original arsenal bright. Action retains 95% original black case mixed with brown on hinge. Wood is about mint and retains a great inspectors cartouche. The 2nd Allen was the first .50/70 trapdoor to reach the frontier troops, and was used in both the Wagon Box and Hayfield fights against the Sioux. These are the "guns that won the West."
