Antique Gun 2783. US Model 1898 Krag Experimental Parkhurst Rifle.

Manufactured in 1900. Only 100 rifles and 100 carbines were altered for field testing. The Parkhurst was the first attempt to develop a clip loading rifle to compete with the Spanish M1885 Mauser, encountered during the War With Spain. Only two or three of the Parkhurst rifles survived, making this one of the rarest of the Krags. Rifle is in about very fine condition; bore is about fine. Smooth metal retains approximately 70% original blue finish; receiver retains sharp markings and much of its original case. Wood is about excellent, with nice firing prof and a great 1900 dated cartouche. 100% original, or money back; the rarest of the rare. Post 1898, so R&C license required. The only one on the market; it has been in our collection for over 10 years. $14,000
