Manufactured by Ames and dated 1845. In near-mint, unfired condition. Bore is mint; barrel retains 95% or more original brown finish. Lock retains 95% mellowing case colors. Wood is excellent-plus, with few handling bruises; stock retains two super inspectors cartouches. Brass is excellent-plus, showing some evidence of a long ago cleaning. Almost impossible to upgrade. $5650
