In fine overall condition. Musketoon is rifled and sighted, with lead plug in stock. Dated 1848 on lockplate. Originally had chain retaining device for ramrod. Rod has been replaced by a blacksmith-made rod with built-in worm (possibly CS replacement). Wood is about very fine and retains visible inspectors cartouche. Metal retains an overall smooth brown finish. Barrel proofs visible. Brass is excellent and uncleaned; retains nice patina. A rare variation of a scarce Mexican War cavalry carbine. Only $3650
