Antique Gun 2418. US Springfield Model 1866 (2nd Allen) Rifle.

In near mint, unfired condition. Bore is about mint; smooth metal retains a dulling steel finish. Breech block retains 99% dark case, lockplate approximately 85% case colors. Stock is near mint, with a few minor scratches, and retains an excellent inspector's cartouche. The M1866, also called the "Needle Rifle," was the first breech loader to be issued to the troops in any quantity, and was the type of gun used in the famous Wagon Box and Hayfield fights. .50/70.
