Caliber .45/70. In unfired, about mint condition. Only 143 of these rifles were manufactured at Springfield Armory. Bore is mint; smooth metal retains 98% strong original blue on barrel and receiver. Stock is near mint, and retains excellent ESA cartouche and firing proof. The rarest of the production Springfields, with only 143 as the entire production, this was a better rifle than the trapdoor but came a few years too late. The first successful design by James P.
